3rd Annual Nonprofit Arts Conference: Leading Boldly in a Changing World
On the eve of the nation's 250th anniversary, cultural leaders operate in a changing world. Convene with leaders from arts, philanthropy, and law as we address the changing legal landscape of the present, confront our collective past, and face the future of AI in the arts and culture sector.
Presenters will include Kristin Sakoda, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture; Robert Stein, Chief Information Officer of the National Gallery of Art; Casey Summar, Managing Director of The Law Firm for Nonprofits; Rose Chan Loui, Founding Executive Director of the Lowell Milken Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofits. Additional speakers to be announced soon!
Here is a peek at the topics we will be covering:
Philanthropy and nonprofits are operating in a constantly shifting legal and policy landscape, often making it difficult to carry out mission fearlessly. Rose Chan Loui, Executive Director of the Lowell Milken Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofits, and Casey Summer, Managing Director of the Law Firm for Nonprofits, will provide an overview of the latest developments in the policies and laws that most affect nonprofits and will recommend pro-active steps that nonprofits and funders can take in response.
MOCA's MONUMENTS exhibition bravely tackled how we engage with our shared past and thoughtfully considered the role of art and monuments in shaping our nation and Los Angeles. As such, the landmark exhibit offers a compelling case study in bold leadership. We are excited to present a conversation with Bennett Simpson, MOCA Senior Curator and Co-Curator of MONUMENTS, and Catherine Arias, MOCA Director of Education, to be led by Kristin Sakoda, Director of the LA County Department of Arts and Culture. Their dialogue will dive deeply into how the exhibition was conceived, developed, and launched, and will reflect on the artistic, legal, programmatic, personal, funding, and security risks that they navigated along the way.
AI is on everyone’s minds these days, and it’s not too soon to think about how it will affect the arts and culture sector. In this session, Robert Stein, Chief Information Officer of the National Gallery of Art, will draw on his experience grappling with these issues and will offer his thoughts on how arts and culture leaders can prepare for and thrive in an AI-infused arts and culture world.
